Course Overview

This First Aid Course is a Highfield Regulated Qualification and is ideal for anyone wishing to become an emergency first aider. This provides delegates with skills and knowledge to deal with first sid situations in low risk workplace environments and is compliant with Health and Safety (First-Aid) Regulations 1981.

The course can be delivered at your place of work or at our North Wales Training Centre.

What Qualification Will I Get?

This qualification is the Highfield Level 3 Award in Emergency First Aid at Work (RQF) which is accredited by Highfield Qualifications and sits on the Regulated Qualifications Framework (RQF) which is regulated by Ofqual and CCEA Regulation. The qualification is also regulated by Qualifications Wales.

Who Is This Qualification For?

This qualification is aimed at learners who wish to become emergency first-aiders in the workplace. This qualification meets the requirements for training emergency first-aiders in those organisations that have identified that staff need to be trained to this level within their first-aid needs assessment.

What Will I Study?

Learners will develop the skills and confidence to help someone who is:

    • Adult resuscitation (CPR)
    • Burns and scalds
    • Choking adult
    • Communication and casualty care
    • Defibrillator prompts and how to respond (theory based)
    • Defibrillator pad placement (theory based)
    • Minor and severe bleeding
    • Role of the first aider (including knowledge of health and safety regulations)
    • Seizures
    • Shock
    • Unresponsive adult

Firstly, you must decide if you are a high or low risk environment. Next you must consider how many staff you employ. The Health & Safety Executive (HSE) provides a table showing what First Aid qualifications/ training your organisation requires:

Assessment Method

This qualification is assessed by a practical demonstration and a multiple-choice theory test.

How Long Will It Take?

To complete this emergency first aid at work qualification learners should expect to undertake 7 hours of learning, typically over one day, with a minimum contact time of 6 hours.
